Just bought this Casio G-Shock Casio G-5600E-1JF G-SHOCK Tough Solar Watch (as stated on Amazon) because it was declared as a "Japanese Model". When I received the watch, the back case and buckle both indicated made in "Thailand". Other than the misleading watch information, the G-Shock appears to be in good condition, the adjust (A) button (top left) is not recessed and usable, and all the functions worked properly.Pros: Surprisingly compact, light-weight, durable, very legible, basic features (world time, 24-hr stop watch and count down timer, and user-friendly.Cons: Misleading model labelThe watch itself is great. It has the soft touch case and band, unlike the $45 version that has the hard plastic.The problem I have is that they are advertising this as the Japanese market version. It is not! It is made in Thailand. That is fine and in of itself not a problem. But don’t advertise it as the JDM one. You can clearly see in the picture the different model numbers.My daily driver. Keep the fancy things for the fancy days, they don't tell time that well anyway. This'll get you through your days for the next 4 decades. Probably longer. Time will tell.So I like this watch for the following reasons:+ It's solar powered+ It's meant to take a lickin' and keep on tickin' (vis a vis G-shock)+ It is small in size, both the face and wristband width and length (i.e.: meant for a small Japanese wrist).With that said, unless you know what you're getting, that is you've seen this watch in person - go for it. If not, do not pull the trigger.These watches are the best bang for buck tough digital watches on the planet.You really cannot go wrong for the price that casio is asking for these watches.If you like your watches easy to read, super lite weight,packed with functions and priced great then casio has got you covered.My Fourth square G-shock and I am loving it! ( G-5600E-1JF G-SHOCK Tough Solar Watch)It came from Japan (from what I can tell, but the watch is made in China) Display is better (clearer than my earlier DW-5600e-1V).Some very nice features especially the auto light and power save (auto shut off during low power only during certain times of the day). Would have been 5 star if the price was $30 cheaper than the $166 I paid. The bio luminescence on the dw-5600e-1v is actually better than this model. I looked at G-Shock thinking that they may be more durable since that's what their G-Shock line is all about. The watch is 20bar/200m water resistant which should be okay when you take it for a swim [...] The buttons are positioned in a way that they wont be accidentally pressed in the water; however, if they do get pressed, the buttons have a double o-ring on them such that water shouldn't be able to get in the watch (based on the research I found).This watch is not as bulky as the other version of G-Schok and the 1JF version is a bit different than the non 1JF version from what I can gather on the pictures/advertisement; the tough solar panel seems a bit blueish compared to a darker/black panel on the 1JF.The material of the strap is very nice; thin, flexible, and comfortable. When I put it on for the first time, it felt light and at one point during the day, I thought I lost my watch because it is so light that it felt like I'm not wearing a watch!! *mindblown*Numbers on the screen is very deep and dark so you can see it no matter what the light is like outside.The watch that I received is made in Thailand (there are some that are also made in China).EDIT: you can only increment the timer by the MINUTE and if you want to set a timer of 1m30s, you cannot do it with this model. FYIFunctionality wise, it has your basic needs for a digital watch:-stopwatch (24h)-29 world time + DST-timer (24h)-5 alarm (4 one time/ 1 snooze)-Auto illumination (if set, can auto illuminate when you raise your hand)-tough solar (battery will last for about 8 months without direct energery source)-Auto Calendar up to year 2099-20bar / 200m water resistantThis is a great do-it-all sport watch. I picked this watch up for the upcoming summer months as I plan to do alot of outdoor activities and needed a watch that wouldn't be ruined by sweat, sunscreen, swimming, etc. The watch is light, comfortable, has many useful features (i.e., world-time, alarms, stopwatch, timers, etc.) and is not too large. It is also solar-powered which makes this one of the most maintenance free watches I own.I ordered from seller Nadeshico-JAPAN-CA and had a great experience. The package arrived 1 full week before the start of the Amazon expected delivery time (with a lovely thank-you note!). The watch was well packed and came through Japan Post and DHL with no holdups at borders/customs. The Nadeshico-JAPAN-CA team was easy to contact and promptly provided the tracking details upon request.Been wearing daily for about a year now. The buttons are a little difficult to press when wearing it at times, but this is understandable so they don't get pressed by accident. It charges with very little light. I changed out the strap for a less bulky one and am very happy. My first G-SHOCK and from what I understand and expect it will last me for decades to come. I wish it had come pre-programmed to 2099, instead of only to 2060, but that's alright. Happy I paid a little bit more for the tough solar model in order to extend the time between battery replacements down the road.I give it 5 stars for the product only. Its a great sleek look. I have medium sized writs and am not a big guy. Its a great size for anyone over 150lbs weight. Its light weights, seems strong. The face looks classy and super easy to read. So far I'm loving the purchase.I did pay extra for express shipping which it took almost a month to get to me instead of the 7days. After a lot of back forth emails with japan and amazon finally I received it. Otherwise its a great buy. if you want a high end watch for half the price, buy this watch.
